The Rufous Hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus)  nest farther north than any other hummingbird, ranging from southern Alaska to California.  Some migrate 2000 miles to winter in Mexico, and wanderers are often found in the Eastern US.  This series was in Oakbrook at the home of the Gyllenhaals,  in November 2011 and there was debate as to whether it was a similar Allen’s. I think DNA analysis of a fecal pellet resolved it.
