Shrikes are songbirds that prey on other birds, rodents and Arthropods.  They lack the strong talons of Raptors, so they impale their prey on thorns or sharp twigs.  Their family is Laniidae and there are 2 species in North America north of Mexica, both represented below.  Loggerhead Shrikes range south of the Northern.  The latter was given species status in 2017, previously considered a subspecies of the Eurasian Gray Shrike. It has videos near the bottom of the page.
