The Blue-winged Teal  Spatula discors is a small dabbling duck that in 2009 had a generic reassignment so it is no longer Anas.  It ranges over  most of North America, living on marshes and ponds and in the prairies of the Dakotas and Canada, it is the most common duck.  Flocks migrate south for the winter and it is the first duck to leave and last to return.
