Cerambycidae is a family of beetles commonly referred to as longhorns, due to their very long antennae. These may be as long as or even longer than the body, although subfamily Parandrinae has atypically, short antennae. There are 10 subfamilies and over 26,000 species. The family name comes from Greek mythology: after an argument with nymphs, the shepherd Cerambus was transformed into a large beetle with horns.
