Millipedes are a group of Arthropods known scientifically as the Class Diplopoda, in the Subphylum Myriapoda, which also includes Centipedes. These many legged creatures differ from Centipedes in having 2 pairs of legs per segment, instead only one pair as in the former. While ‘Millipede’ indicates thousand feet, none have that many, the most being 750. They were among the earliest Arthropods and some prehistoric ones were over two meters in length. They are mainly detritus feeders and harmless to humans. Some curl into a ball as a defensive mechanism or release chemicals. Below are the photos I have, arranged by Orders.
